Melbourne homes, styled with real art.
Most property styling comes out of the same warehouse, so every inspection looks like the last one. We use real art, mid-century pieces and objects buyers won't see anywhere else.
As seen in The Design Files.
"Sold within a week from marketing."
Our property was fully transformed into a home that we could not
have imagined. Rod and his team did an amazing job with our
apartment that certainly reached new heights in design and
presentation. Ashika Maharaj
"Without doubt Rod from The Art of Distraction was the best."
So much more layered and artistic than the vanilla that is around. I have sold a few houses in my laps around the sun and for the past decade always worked with a styler... and we have got top prices. Kate Kennedy
Our approach.
The reason our home means so much to us is not because of its size, location, or how “smart” it is. The reason we love it is because it’s a state of mind. Our home is an emotion. It’s the feeling you experience when you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. This feeling of connection is our enduring focus, and it’s what we highlight in your property in order for buyers to connect emotionally at their first viewing.

The art of style.
Art is the driving punctuation of our narrative. The interplay of eclectic elements provides a space that is personalised and free from the albatross of prescribed style. Colour, texture, and comfort mixed with inspired elements result in homes that are emotively memorable.

Flattery will get you everywhere.
The goal of styling is to flatter the property, accentuate its strengths, and give interested parties the ability to visualize themselves living in the space. It invites others to see past what’s presented and to envision how they may use it in the future. It offers the buyer a vision of a home that resonates and because of this, can increase a home’s selling price and the likelihood that it will sell quickly.

Utilising the space.
What pieces go well in which areas, and how to lay out a room most effectively are key in showcasing a property’s features. This is especially true for awkward areas or for parts of the property that might need a little extra love. Staging, whether with your own furniture or borrowed, demonstrates how these awkward spaces can be utilised.

Who and how.
Now we've been over the why, let's talk about who and how. My name is Rod and I'm the founder of The Art Of Distraction. I see art as the driving punctuation in every space and as an avid collector, I have access to pieces that can transform almost any space. The way I like to work is by starting with a quick chat on the phone or via email. From here we can learn a little more about each other and get a feel for our approach. The next step is the most exciting, where we arrange a walk-through and start conceiving looks for each of your spaces. Once we agree on a strategy, the magic begins, and we transform your home so it's ready to welcome new buyers.
